Over those years, music has taken me on quite a journey. I've competed in competitions around the country, auditioned for Pop Idol and The X Factor, and performed at venues and events across the UK.

For a time, I also drove darts legend Eric Bristow to exhibitions around the country — and at some of those events, I wasn't only the driver. I got the opportunity to entertain too. They're experiences and memories I'll always treasure.

I'm also a self-taught keyboard player. I play by ear rather than reading everything from a page, and creating music has increasingly become another important part of what I do. Today I'm not only performing songs I love; I'm creating original music of my own.

Throughout my career I've also had the privilege of supporting and performing for a number of different charities. Giving something back through music has always meant a great deal to me.

For several years I performed as part of the band The DAB, before leaving in 2025 when my dad became seriously ill. Family had to come first.

Away from the stage, life is much more ordinary — and I wouldn't have it any other way. By day I'm a refuse collector. I'm a husband and proud dad of four, and when I'm not singing you'll probably find me gaming, dancing, baking, watching a film, planning something Disney-related or enjoying a Comic Con.

After everything life has brought with it, I'm beginning another chapter with Mark Birch Live.

I'm still doing what that kid singing in the playground loved doing all those years ago:

Standing up, singing a song and hopefully making somebody's day a little better.
